The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is requesting that when we have finished with our holiday reads, instead of leaving them at the resort, we bring them home with us and help raise essential funds for the charity.
The BHF has discovered that we holidaymakers leave books worth around £90 million behind in the resort once the holiday has finished every year. In a recent poll, the charity found that 46% of us will throw away our beach books within a fortnight. At least 60% of us buy at least two books for our coach holidays meaning that millions of pounds are being lost which is why the BHF is urging people to bring in their unwanted books to the charity’s shops.
The charity says that every donation helps them to continue their lifesaving work. A variety of celebrities are joining the campaign with Graham Norton giving his copy of Mary Lawson’s The Other Side Of The Bridge and Simon Pegg has handed over his copy of The Peculiar Memories Of Thomas Penman by Bruce Robinson so remember next time you’re on coach holidays, don’t forget to bring your books back home!
Never been on coach holidays before? Looking for a little inspiration as to where to go? Why not give the team a call at Door2Tour.com and we’ll be more than happy to assist!
