Royal Wedding provides a boost to UK tourism

16/11/2010
Industry insiders believe the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton will certainly boost inbound tourism but bookings for overseas touring holidays are set to decline in 2011 as Brits decide to stay at home or delay their holiday plans until after the wedding.

Research from VisitBritain has shown that in a typical year the places, events and history associated with The Royal Family generates over £500 million in revenue for the British tourism industry. They believe that millions of people around the world are certain to see the wedding as the perfect opportunity to come to the UK to see the young royals and our much loved Queen.

With the Royal Wedding taking place in London, all eyes will be on the historic city as the marriage will be broadcast worldwide and millions will possibly descend upon the city to be part of the celebrations. This in turn could significantly increase visitor numbers to the UK as more people opt for UK coach tours to be in the country at the same time.

Should you wish to be in London at the same time as the Royal Wedding then perhaps consider city breaks where you could possibly catch a glimpse of the Happy Couple? Alternatively, if you want to escape the build-up and the wedding itself, why not book worldwide escorted tours to far-flung destinations - although we can’t guarantee that you’ll completely avoid the event as it is certain to be screened across the globe!
