If you thought all the Royal Wedding excitement is narrowed down to Britain only, think again.
TV broadcasters all over the world are fighting for those British-made documentaries on Prince William and Kate Middleton’s engagement ahead of their big day on April 29.
One particular production, called William and Kate – A Royal Engagement, has already been sold to 32 international broadcasters in countries such as the USA, Australia and Thailand. The production shows the varying contrasts in the couple’s upbringing including interviews with friends, historians, broadcasters and journalists.
“The impressive sales of William And Kate – A Royal Wedding highlights the huge international interest in the imminent Royal Wedding and we have a strong collection of new programmes to satisfy this demand at MIPTV,” said Steve Macallister, of programme-makers BBC Worldwide.
Other productions include: Inside the Royal Wedding, a documentary about the preparations for the ceremony, and Britain’s Royal Wedding, a two-part programme looking at the monarchical marriages since 1923.
It will be interesting to see whether these TV series/documentaries result in high demand for Royal Wedding memorabilia on an international scale to match the popularity here in the UK.
By the way, if you want to learn how to be a Princess and learn to curtsy and stir the tea (without clanging teaspoons against the china), you can do so at a specially created summer camp managed by Jerramy Fine, founder of Princess Prep – you may have to be royalty to afford the costs though with prices starting from £2,500 per person!
