Record numbers pass through Gatwick Airport

14/05/2011
Record load factors were reported by Gatwick Airport for April as Brits took advantage of the extra Bank Holiday weekends and chose to travel abroad.

An additional 702,500 people passed through Gatwick Airport in April 2011 compared to the same period last year and this was partly due to the erupting volcano in Iceland causing the closure of airspace for 6 days across the UK and Europe. The addition of new routes to Alesund and Seville by airlines such as Easyjet and Norwegian, have also added to Gatwick’s success.
