Recession not bursting the holiday bubble?

13/11/2009
A recent poll carried out at the World Travel Market has found that the over-60s are not going to give up their holiday simply because of the recession. Many are spending their children’s inheritance on the basis of ‘living today as who knows what tomorrow may bring’!

Out of the 1,030 people surveyed who took a summer holiday this year, 84% are not prepared to allow the recession to ruin their fun & insist on maintaining their annual summer plans. 80% of the group have admitted that poor currency exchange rates & flight taxes won’t deter them from taking their next holiday, although they may escape the euro zone for better value for money!

This is in stark contrast to the younger market as many 16-24 year olds feel that they will be staying at home during the summer holidays as they reign in the pennies during the current economic downturn. Many are concerned that they will simply be unable to afford packing their swimwear & suntan lotion for a holiday next year as the recession continues to bite.
