Popular destinations for family holidays!

22/10/2009
Recent research by The Co-Operative Travel has shown that Egypt is overtaking Spain as the most popular destination for family holidays pushing Majorca into 4th place. This is mainly due to the weakness of sterling against the euro.

Holidays to Sharm el Sheikh have increased by 142% based on more than 1,000 bookings according to the company. This increase in bookings coincides with the fall in the cost of holidays to the popular Red Sea Resort – the average selling price for a family holiday to Sharm dropped by 20.7% to £1,898. The resort offers a large selection of all-inclusive hotels so families can budget for their holiday before they travel.

Tenerife is still the number one choice for family holidays during October due to the good weather & reasonably short flight times. Although this year there has been a significant decrease in the number of late deals available to customers and with the euro still going strong many are looking for alternative destinations outside of the euro zone for value for money holidays.

The research carried out by The Co-Operative Travel has also shown that 82% of families tend to stick to European destinations due to the difficulties experienced when travelling with children and low-baggage allowances that really do not meet the needs of family groups.
