It would appear that the Olympics is not as popular as first thought according to a survey carried out by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, at least 4 million Brits plan to avoid the event by heading abroad on coach holidays.
Approximately 2,000 people were interviewed for the survey and the results found that many have mixed feelings about the event. Although there are many of us planning on avoiding the UK during this time, approximately 4 million will also choose to stay in order to catch some of the action and maybe even see some of the events themselves at the Olympic Park – for those fortunate to have tickets from the ballots carried out earlier this year. Only 4% of the UK successfully managed to purchase tickets with only 1 in 10 Londoners getting their hands on tickets to what is supposed to be the hottest event in Britain’s history.
The survey also revealed that only 37% of UK residents actually felt positive about the event with only 48% of Londoners believing that it will have a positive impact on the economy compared with 54% for the rest of the UK.
If you’re planning to stay in the UK during the Olympics, why not check out the wide range of UK coach holidays available here on Door2Tour.com and not forgetting London city breaks and Theatre Breaks too. However, if you wish to escape, consider coach holidays to Europe or other worldwide escorted holidays but we can’t guarantee that you’ll be able to avoid coverage of the event whilst you’re out there!
