Experience travel from a bygone age, hear the creak of the rigging and watch huge rigged sails billow in the wind – with the added bonus that Lulu will headline the opening celebrations at Greenock, Scotland.
The Tall Ships Race is a spectacular sailing event (9th to 12th July 2011) where young people aged between 15 and 25 years can sail with their contemporaries from across the world. The event at James Watt Dock is due to attract over 800,000 visitors from across the world and will feature between 70 to 100 sailing vessels.
The first stage of the sailing event took place in Waterford, Ireland. Greenock hosts the second stage of the Tall Ships Race with at least 60 ships taking part. There are plenty of activities and things to do for all visitors including street theatre, live bands, circus workshops, firework displays and so much more.
