According to recent research by travel insurer LV, the number of people choosing to holiday on their own has practically doubled over the last two years. Out of those people who holiday solo, many are married or are in a relationship.
The survey also shows that at least 13% of people have holidayed on their own in the last year compared to only 6% at least two years ago. Out of these figures, at least 41% were in a relationship and 27% were married. The reasons given for travelling solo showed that 20% wanted an adventure, 16% preferred their own company and 7% said that their friends or partner could not afford to join them on the trip.
