Immigration causes increasing queues at Heathrow

03/07/2012
Reports from The Telegraph say that BAA target times for passengers passing through immigration are not being met, with delays of up to two and a half hours being reported at Heathrow.

BAA have target queue times of 45 minutes for non-EU passengers and 25 minutes for UK and EU passports, yet the reality was double this target. On Friday morning, queue times were on average an hour and a half, with similar issues later that day and during Saturday.

Passengers at Terminal 4 reported that two out of three desks at immigration were not in operation. With the 2012 Olympic Games almost in reach, warnings by Union officials of an expected extra 650,000 passengers are a definite concern. However, from July 15th, there will be an extra 72 immigration workers at hand which should help combat this problem.
