Even though we may be experiencing tough times financially, us Brits still consider a good holiday as an essential part of life and not simply a luxury that we can really do without should it pull hard on the purse-strings.
New research from Visa Europe has shown that Britons spent £9.8 billion whilst on
European coach tours and
worldwide escorted touring holidays in 2010. Although the total number of people going abroad has fallen, those who do book European coach holidayswill spend more in 2011 than they did last year.
The findings are based on the holders of 105 million Visa cards in the UK and show that the biggest expense for holidaymakers is the cost of accommodation. It is thought that Brits will end up spending on average £178 on eating out and £97 on drinks whilst on holiday.
