According to TripAdvisor, almost a quarter of us planning and booking a holiday will use a mobile device to do so. Approx. 22% of the 1,200 people who took part in the Mobile Device Survey said that they had used the hardware when organising coach holidays. At least 29% use a mobile to research and book accommodation with 26% reading reviews, 23% researching restaurants and 18% booking/searching for flights.

The survey would suggest that there has been phenomenal growth in the number of travellers planning their coach holidays, both before they leave and during their holiday with a number of people reading up on attractions/restaurants that can be found in the resort to checking flight times and available excursions. Approx. 39% of respondents had a travel app, 14% had written a review and 15% had checked into a place using their phone.

It would appear that as well as a good book, an ipod and suntan lotion, smartphones and tablets are becoming an increasingly important travel companion for holidaymakers.
