Even with all the social-networking sites and holiday websites out there, it would appear that holidaymakers still prefer to go into a building and speak to a person when it comes to arranging and booking their holiday.
Brits particularly prefer to search for and book their holiday in a High Street Travel Shop rather than online and this figure has risen from 17% to 25% in the last 12 months. Almost 32% of young holidaymakers aged between 16-24 visited a High Street travel company compared to 15% of 45-54 year olds.
When it comes to booking a holiday, women are more likely to visit a High Street Travel Shop (31%) compared to only 19% of men during the last 12 months. Also, 28% of Brits booked their holiday directly with the tour operator who is organising the trip compared to 24% last year.
The survey also showed that despite the rise in people booking direct with a company on the High Street, at least one in four Brits had also booked via a holiday website with 43% choosing to book direct with airlines or accommodation providers.
