Tourists opt for modern landmarks

08/08/2008
When going on holiday, people used to visit ruins to find out more about the history and culture of the country they had visited. This is no longer the case as more and more people opt for visiting modern landmarks when taking Coach Holidays.

In a survey organised by Halifax Insurance, people had voted the Sydney Opera House as the attraction they most wanted their photo taken next to. The Eifel Tower in Paris was a close second followed by the Christ The Redeemer statue in Rio De Janeiro. The popularity of modern architecture and the influence of film and TV were cited as the main reasons for the change in attitudes towards coach holiday destinations. Closer to home though the ancient still triumphs with Stonehenge being voted the top visitor attraction.
