ABTA have confirmed that holidays in Egypt are continuing to grow as more people try to avoid the Euro Zone and opt for holidays in Sharm El Sheik instead. Holidays to Tunisia and Turkey have also sold well for this Easter. Those looking for long haul holidays have chosen either Florida for its amazing theme parks or taking a cruise to The Caribbean to soak up the sun.
Destinations city coach trips such as Paris, Amsterdam, Dublin, Milan and New York are also proving popular with those holidaymakers looking for short coach breaks away to celebrate the Easter Bank Holiday. The UK is also very popular for city coach breaks with London, Edinburgh and Manchester leading the way. Many people are booking cottages & going for the self-catering option to visit Cornwall, East Anglia or the North of England.
A high percentage of holidaymakers are opting to fly by air instead of booking coach holidays and the ATA predicts that approx. 575,000 will leave from Heathrow and 250,000 will take their holidays from Gatwick. More than 155,000 people will fly from Scottish Airports this Easter compared to 141,000 flying from airports in The Midlands & North of England. Eurostar is reporting that 85,000 will be leaving the UK this Easter for European coach holidays via the Channel Tunnel.
