Dubai clamps down on bad behaviour

03/06/2011
Due to recent bad publicity, Dubai has decided to clampdown on the behaviour of tourists and as Davina McCall would say ‘You’re in Dubai, please do not swear’!

For those that have fallen foul of Dubai’s strict decency laws, the country has teamed up with the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office and put together an e-brochure with a list of Do’s and Don’ts for visitors.

So if you’re planning to visit Dubai anytime soon, you might want to cast your eye over the following Don’ts so you do not fall foul of the law:

• Drinking alcohol or being drunk in public
• Dancing in the streets
• Public displays of affection such as kissing or holding hands
• Taking drugs even some over-the-counter medicines such as those containing codeine are banned in Dubai
• Swearing
• Aggressive or offensive behaviour such as spitting

These are just some of the many restrictions that tourists must adhere to when visiting Dubai. Further information can be found in the ‘Dubai – Know Before You Go’. The aim of the e-brochure is to offer useful, practical advice and information enabling people to have a relaxing, stress-free holiday in Dubai.
