The number of Brits visiting European destinations fell by 12% to 49.6 million whilst visits to places within North America, fell by 19% to 3.9 million. Other worldwide destinations also saw a 9% drop to 9.1 million UK holidaymakers visiting places such The Caribbean, Egypt, South America, Thailand and elsewhere.
These figures have also shown that the number of visits to the UK from overseas holidaymakers has fallen by 9% over the passed 12 months compared to a year earlier. European visitors to the UK fell by 6% to 22.7 million whilst visits from American tourists fell 21% to 3.4 million. The number of people visiting the UK from other worldwide countries fell by 11% to 4.2 million.
The recent Credit Crunch has been a factor in the decline of visits by Brits to other European and Worldwide destinations but with so many great-value deals available, people should not be put off from booking their holiday.
