It is thought that more than 75,000 under 18 year olds will be taking cruise holidays this year which is a seven fold increase over the last decade. The Passenger Shipping Association’s annual cruise holidays review has found that more than one in ten package holidays booked now involves cruise holidays.

The annual review has shown that at least 60% of those people interviewed take more than one cruise holiday each year. The reasons for opting for cruise holidays is because they are so family-friendly and encourage ‘quality family time’ whilst on cruise holidays. Almost a quarter out of the 539 passengers interviewed say they would book cruise holidays simply because they are better value for money.

Cruise holidays are thought to work out roughly £100 a day which is a lot less than taking a family of four out for a meal or staying in a London hotel for the night. Nearly one in six (15.6%) of people taking cruise holidays are families with children but at least 75% of all British cruise passengers tend to be couples on cruise holidays.
