Brits spend £118 million replacing forgotten holiday items

07/08/2012
A recent study has found that almost 15 million holiday essentials are being left behind each year by Brits, amounting to a whopping cost of £118 million to replace their missing belongings!

Research has shown that 41% of us forget to pack at least one item per coach holiday. It is thought that this is because of ‘suitcase haste’, where people are so stressed and busy before a holiday that they fail to pack attentively before their break away.

Top items on the list of most forgotten include: shoes, mobile phone charger, sun cream, books, glasses, toothpaste and toothbrush. Last on the list were: mobile phones, flip flops and, disturbingly, passports. A recent survey by Post Office Travel Money showed that Spain is probably the best place to go and forget your belongings, as it could be one of the cheapest destinations for holidaymakers to replace them.

However, if you take it to the other extreme, you’ll find holidaymakers who are more concerned with ensuring that their fancy dress costume is in their suitcase along with other non-essential items such as favourite foods, for example, brown sauce, pork pies and marmalade. This has got us wondering, what sort of suitcase packer are you?
