Increased air taxes for long haul destinations, stagnating salaries and other financial hurdles are adding to the woes of Brits looking for a great-value holiday which is why many have rekindled their love affair with France.
Latest figures show that bookings for holidays across the Channel have soared by 31% with £564 being the average price per person for France tours. Some of the many reasons why so many of us are choosing France for coach holidays is due to the civil and financial unrest in popular non-Eurozone favourites of Egypt and Tunisia. As a result people are opting for safe havens and destinations that are a lot closer to home. Increased air taxes to long haul destinations and rising fuel costs are adding to the change in holiday selections.
Bookings for holidays to The Caribbean have dropped by 19% proving that cash-strapped Brits are looking for much cheaper holiday alternatives. Greece tours are also proving popular with Brits as it turns out that it is currently much cheaper to holiday here than in Turkey – on average in 2011, a family of four saves £136 by switching destinations.
