With just under 50 days to go until the opening ceremony, the games has had a surprise popularity boost from Britons: Forty per cent of Brits have arranged or rearranged their holiday plans to fit around the Olympics.
A further 39% of Londoners and 45% of locals in the East Midlands would change their summer break plans in order to support our Nations team. The study found that not all Londoners are as pro-Games, however: 94% of London bus drivers have voted to strike during the upcoming Games in a dispute over their Olympic pay. The employees of London’s 21 privately run bus companies are demanding bonuses for driving the buses during such a busy period. However, with only 38% of all London bus drivers attending the vote it looks like any purposed strikes will not go ahead, allowing thousands of Games attendees and supporters to travel around the capital.
The study also revealed that it's not just Britons who are supporting Team GB: 87% of Northern Irelanders say they would work any holiday plans around the Games, in order to be a part them and support the Nations' teams in any way they can.
