A recent report by VisitBritain has shown that Americans are falling out of the love with the UK as a holiday destination. Between 1998 and 2007, the USA was the UK’s biggest overseas market but it has since slipped into third place behind France and Germany. At the height of the UKs popularity with Americans, almost 4.1m joined UK coach holidays but last year there were only 2.7m visits to the UK by US citizens. One of the reasons why fewer Americans are holidaying here is because they view the UK as being expensive although not as pricey as Italy and France.
It is hoped that by investing £100m into a four year marketing plan, VisitBritain will be able to rekindle the Americans love of the UK with events such as the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the London 2012 Olympic Games expected to draw in big crowds.
Let’s try and persuade Americans with our delightful UK coach holidays where they can visit quaint English villages, stunning coastlines and historic sites.
