2010 - A popular year for holidays!

10/09/2009
A recent poll carried out by both Thomson & First Choice has found the majority of people interviewed plan to take a holiday next year despite the Recession. Approx. 1,000 people took part in the independent online survey and results showed that 80% plan to take a break in 2010 despite the current economic environment.

If you are conscious about saving the pennies when planning your 2010 holiday, then check out our fabulous Special Offers and Credit Crunch Savers. With so many great value coach holidays to choose from, you could be relaxing in The English Riviera, soaking up the winter sun in Lake Garda, sightseeing in China, polar bear watching in Canada, cruising The Nile or joining a safari in Africa!

This report showed that the current Recession has not deterred holidaymakers from making holiday plans for 2010. Half of those interviewed said that they plan to spend the same as this year (2009) with 24% planning to spend more on their chosen holiday. Even the swine flu outbreak has not deterred people from travelling with 6 out of 10 not changing their holiday plans in 2010. Only one in ten have said that they may slightly alter their plans due to the pandemic.

Some people interviewed (approx. 6%) said that they were wary of the current economic environment and have altered their holiday plans accordingly by opting for package holidays. The main reason for this change is the added security it provides just in case an airline collapses etc. This figure doubles for 2010 with almost 13% opting for the package holiday.

Many people have opted for the ‘All Inclusive’ holiday so they do not have to worry about taking extra spending money for meals etc whilst they are out there. Those considering the All Inclusive option have risen from 10% to 16% for holidays in 2010.

As a result of this research, hotels have changed their board basis to meet customer needs in 2010. Bookings for Cruise holidays have also seen an increase due to the current economic climate. Holidaymakers are also considering travelling further afield for their holidays in 2010 with more than 23% opting for Holidays By Air and purchasing a longer flight for the same price as one nearer to home. Almost 18% of those interviewed said they would consider taking up offers of upgrades from airlines that are keen to fill premium seats.

As well as considering the current economic climate, holidaymakers are also thinking about the environment and the effects that travel may have. This is one of the reasons why many opt for Responsible Tourism and book with those companies that showed greener business practices such as using hotels that do not waste energy, environmentally friendly forms of transport etc. According to the Coach Tourism Council, coach holidays are the perfect way to travel if you are conscious about the environment, as they are almost six times less pollutant than travelling by car or plane. Coaches also use two times less energy than travelling by train. Why not begin your search NOW for coach holidays to many fantastic UK, European or Worldwide destinations!
