Did you know that in Medieval Times, Looe was formerly two towns consisting of East and West Looe that were linked together by a bridge? When you are on coach trips to East Looe you will soon see the beautiful fishing harbour, main shopping centre and the sandiest of beaches in Cornwall. If you choose escorted tours to West Looe, you will see that it is much quieter but has a great array of shops, restaurants & hotels. It also leads to Hannfore with its fine views of St George’s Island. It is also possible to join group tours and walk to the Island when it is low tide otherwise it is best to visit by boat.
Looe Harbour is the base for an important fishing fleet and it is also the headquarters for British Shark-fishing. You can spot the picturesque harbour on TV as it was used in the ITV series ‘Echo Beach’. The harbour also had a regular visitor for many years, Nelson The Seal, but sadly he passed away and a commemorative statue is now on display so you may want to take coach tours to see it.
