Royal Ascot Changes Picnic Guidelines
This year Ascot has changed their guidelines for racegoers attending Royal Ascot. If you have a ticket for the Windsor Enclosure (better known as the Silver Ring), you may want to follow these new guidelines to save having anything confiscated!
During Royal Ascot the only ‘furniture’ allowed into the racecourse are blankets and fold away chairs, no other form of seating will be permitted.
Picnics are still allowed in the Windsor Enclosure, however must be brought to the Racecourse in either a picnic hamper or cool box/bag. Picnics must be taken in at time of entry and not on re-entry, food and drink will not be permitted on a re-entry ticket if an attendee has previously left the Grandstand.
To embrace the nature of Royal Ascot, each racegoer is permitted to bring a bottle of sparkling wine or champagne to accompany their picnic. They will not allow any other type of alcoholic drink into the racecourse including beer, spirits, Pimms and similar. All picnics will be searched on entry. Soft drinks will be admitted into the enclosure providing the seals are intact.
Picnics and alcoholic beverages cannot be brought into the Royal Enclosure or Grandstand.
