Liverpool becomes ‘City of Music’
The city which is famous for being home to The Beatles and Cilla Black has officially been recognised by the United Nations as the City of Music.
Liverpool holds a Guinness World Record title for being the Capital of Pop, with more artists from the city having a number one hit than from any other UK location.
Upon awarding the accolade to the town, UNESCO noted there was a commitment to clearly defined music, skills and education for young people.
For music and Beatles fans visiting the city still have plenty of things to see and do. This includes a trips to the Beatles Story in Albert Dock, a visitor location decided to the Fab Four. The attraction follows the lives of John, Paul, Ringo and George through to Beatlemania!
You’ll also have a chance to visit the famous Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields. No diehard Beatles fan can visit the City visit stopping at the Cavern Club in Liverpool where both the Beatles and Cilla Black launched their music careers. There is live music every day for visitors including the ‘Cavern Beatles’.
