Over 30,000 hectares of champagne vineyards carpet the rolling hillsides of France’s northeastern Champagne-Ardenne region. Needless to say that the celebrated champagne cellars aren’t far off, the highest concentration of which can be found around Epernay and Reims.
Even tee-totallers might find themselves converted on a French holiday to Champagne, with big names like Moet et Chandon, Mumms and Taittinger all originating from the area. Connoisseur hopefuls should head to Reims, which has no less than eleven champagne cellars. It’s not all about the bubbly though – Reims boasts the impressive Notre Dame Cathedral where French Kings were crowned and Troyes, with its half timbered houses and pleasant ambience, is also worth a visit on your escorted coach tour.
